Killam Cares

Making a Difference in our Neighbourhoods

We are committed to supporting various organizations in the communities where we work and live.

Home Away From Home

Over the last four years Killam has donated five fully furnished apartments to hospitals in Halifax, Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton. Killam continues to support these suites on an annual basis. These units are used by patient families who need to travel away from home for health care needs.

Feed Nova Scotia

Killam is a supporter of Feed Nova Scotia. In 2008 Killam staff and tenants banded together for its biggest food drive ever. The team gathered 2,239 kilograms of food to help families across Nova Scotia. Jamie Cox, resident manager, and the tenants at One Oak in Halifax helped make this food drive a success, and earned the distinction of donating the most food to this important local charity.

Glenforest Apartments Music Program

Thanks to Killam Properties' support, students of all ages are enjoying the MusIQ keyboard pilot program running at the Glenforest apartment complex. Killam subsidized half the cost of the 10-week program which makes music lessons more affordable for families who may not be able to send their children to music lessons otherwise. The initial program has been a big success, with two classes based on ages and skill level, and Killam is looking at further sessions of the program once the pilot has wrapped up.

Red Cross

Killam has partnered with the Red Cross in many of its communities in Canada. The Red Cross is on hand to help when emergencies and disasters impact communities. Over the last two years, Killam has provided the Red Cross with financial assistance to fund their operations. In response, the Red Cross has provided emergency training to Killam staff, helping us react to emergencies effectively when required.
